A quick guide to placing an order

1. Browse our store.

2. Choose the product you want.

3. Change the colour and size if applicable. Click ‘add to cart.

4. You’ll be given prompts to view your cart or proceed to checkout each time you’ve added a product to your cart.

If you missed these prompts don’t worry. Click onYour Cart at the very top of the page.

5. You’ll now see your cart and the products you’ve chosen. From here click ‘Proceed to checkout’.

6. You’ll now be asked for your billing details as well as your delivery address.

You’ll also see the option Create an account. You don’t have to create an account if you don’t want to. If you DO we will remember your details and you don’t have to type them again next time. So…Check this box. You’ll have to choose a password here. You now have an account.

7. Once you’ve completed everything on this page click on Place order at the bottom of the page.

8. You’ll now be redirected to Payfast, our payment domain. Follow their instructions to make the actual payment.

9. Once you’ve completed the payment you’ll be automatically redirected to our store. You’ll now see your order details and you’ll receive an order confirmation email from us.

10. Your order has now been placed!

 

Credit facility NEW!

The Scuba Shop now has a credit facility! We have signed up with Mobicred to allow our customers to purchase scuba equipment on credit. Mobicred is a simple and convenient revolving credit facility that allows you to safely shop online with more than 4,000 online stores in South Africa. Your Mobicred account allows you to make one single monthly payment for all of your online spending. Sign up with Mobicred and buy any product in our online store on credit. You will now find Mobicred as a payment option during the checkout process on Payfast’s website.

 

Pre-Orders

A pre-order is the ordering of a product that is not yet available in our store. This may be because the product is still being manufactured or that the product is not available in South Africa yet but is on its way. Pre-orders take longer than regular orders. There are sometimes snags in the production of new products that will prolong the time between placing your order and receiving delivery. Details on estimated arrival dates are listed in the product description.

 

Special Orders

If a product is on Special Order it means that this specific product is not kept as a stock item with either ourselves or the South African wholesaler. This means that the product is still available for purchase but the delivery time will take longer as the product has to be shipped from overseas. All warranties are still valid with special orders. This is NOT drop shipping. The product will not be shipped directly to your delivery address, it will either come to The Scuba Shop or the wholesaler first and from there be shipped to you.

 

When will I receive my order?

Most orders are shipped on the next business day. A precise answer for delivery time ultimately depends on the courier, and delivery address as well as exactly what and when you order. The short answer for most orders: is less than 3 days. Take into account that public holidays will slow down the shipping process. Our turnaround time on most orders is really quick. Do you ship internationally?

Short answer: Yes we do. Free shipping is not applicable for orders outside of South Africa. If you are overseas and wish to place an order with us please email us a list of the products you are interested in. We will then work out a quotation for you including international shipping fees.

 

What are your business and holiday hours?

The online store is ALWAYS OPEN…unless serious maintenance is taking place. Sales and customer service are staffed Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 16:30. Customer service is closed on Saturday and Sunday and also closed on public holidays. Outside regular business hours, you can expect a prompt reply as soon as possible on the next business day.

 

Payment options

The Scuba Shop uses Payfast for all card transactions. You can choose to pay with your credit, cheque card, or EFT. Depending on what you buy and the availability we may send you an invoice. Payment is then EFT only. Communication is very important to us. We guarantee you that we will keep you updated on the status of your order at all times. I forgot my password. What now?

You shouldn’t have any issues resetting your password but if you are having trouble please contact us to assist you.

 

I’m looking for something very specific…

If there is something special you are looking for like a specific thread valve, a certain fin strap, a service kit, or spares you are more than welcome to contact us and ask. We will more than likely be able to assist you or point you in the right direction.

 

Do you sell cylinders?

Yes, we do. Contact us for pricing and availability.

 

Do you sell Rebreathers?

Yes. We sell Hollis Rebreathers. The Explorer SCCR and Prism CCR. These machines are on special order only and you need training. Contact us if you want to buy a Rebreather.

 

Do you guys offer technical training?

Yes, we do. We offer all PADI courses and some IANTD courses. If you are looking at becoming a technical diver you can contact us for more info on our courses and dates. We offer all courses including Sidemount, Cavern Diver, Cave Diver, Tec 40 – Tec 65, Gas Blender, and various SCCR and CCR Rebreather courses.

 

Oceanic/Oceanpro

For us to offer the speedy service that we do and the variety of goods that we sell we sometimes ship goods directly from our wholesalers.

Oceanic, Hollis, Oceanpro, Lavacore, and Aeris all belong to the same company and make the same products but are branded under a different name. https://www.oceanicworldwide.com/us/about/

In the case that you receive your order and the brand differs from what you see on our website we will then either swap the product for the correct brand, exchange it for a similar product or refund you. We are here for assistance, contact us if the product you ordered says Oceanpro instead of Oceanic.

 

Colour

In rare instances, the colours of products on our website may differ from the actual products. Usually, if the colour differs from the image the actual product looks better! Most of the images of products on our website are accurate. What you see is what you get. If you have received your order and you are not 100% satisfied with what it looks like, contact us. Products on our website are listed and priced according to the South African wholesaler. We are here for assistance, contact us if the product you’ve received is not the product pictured on our website.

 

Shipping

The Scuba Shop uses various couriers for shipping. Shipping is FREE on all orders over R 2000. We do our best to get your order to you in as little time as possible.

You can also pick up your goods from our premises located in Brooklyn, Pretoria. There is however no difference in processing time whether you pick up or wait for delivery. We do not release any orders until we ‘see the money’.

Insurance

We now offer optional insurance on all orders over R2000. The Scuba Shop covers insurance costs on orders up to R2000. If your order is over R2000 we will however not be liable for any loss/damage during transit if you do not take out insurance. We haven’t had any incidents thus far but we do live in South Africa and things can be unstable at times as we’ve seen with the 2021 situation in Kwazulu-Natal so…just to be safe, we urge customers to take advantage of our insurance option especially if you are ordering something expensive.

 

Covid-19 Lockdowns

Remember this?

Our online store is fully functional during the lockdown regardless of the level of lockdown. Please bear in mind that products from certain wholesalers will take longer to arrive depending on the level of lockdown as they are either not open or operating with less staff than normal. Some manufacturers have a backlog on production for certain products. This is attributed to lockdowns and backlogs in other (sometimes various) countries that are involved in the production of the product. All Covid-19 related products like face masks are non-returnable.

 

Pre-Dived products

No refunds will be given on used products. All used (pre-dived, pre-owned) products carry a 6-month repair warranty. This means that if something goes wrong with the product we will repair it free of charge. You will be responsible for shipping charges. Additional shipping charges may apply for Scuba cylinders). Scuba cylinders are shipped empty.

Scratches and bumps – We do not edit photos of pre-owned products. What you see is what you get. Remember however that you are purchasing a used product. Expect it to show some wear and tear. Yes, we buy pre-owned scuba gear. Have something you think we might be interested in? Contact us. We are however very selective and may not be interested in your uncle’s farmer john wetsuit from 1982. If the wetsuit has a hidden pocket that contains a gold nugget or diamonds your uncle salvaged from a shipwreck you should contact us immediately!

 

WARNING: When diving, you must follow the rules and apply the skills taught by a recognized scuba diving certification agency. Before taking part in any diving activity, it is mandatory to have completed a scuba diving course. Information on this website does not replace a diving instruction course. Some of the products we sell can only be used safely after receiving specialized training. Read product instruction manuals and get familiar with the product before taking it underwater. If possible take your new gear on a test dive first before heading into the unknown.
